French DroneBox Meets German UGV in Bundeswehr Trials, Showcasing Seamless Integration for Enhanced Defense and Surveillance Operations

French tether drone developer Elistair and German defense developer ARX Robotics have announced a successful collaboration to provide an advanced Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) solution combining Elistair’s KHRONOS DroneBox and ARX Robotics’ GEREON RCS Unmanned Ground Vehicle.
The combined solution was recently trialled in an “Experimentation Series” organized by the Army Concepts and Capabilities Development Centre of the Bundeswehr (German Army).According to the press release, “(t)he three-week Experimentation Series, designed to evaluate the performance of unmanned systems in varied tactical scenarios, provided a unique platform to demonstrate the seamless integration and capabilities of these cutting-edge systems. The Bundeswehr tested how efficiently multiple autonomous systems, including drones and UGVs, could operate in tandem to support defense and surveillance missions.”
Elistair’s KHRONOS DroneBox provides a mobile, uninteruped surveillance platform designed to provide real-time intelligence in difficult operating environments. Pairing the system with ARX Robotics’ GEREON RCS UGV greatly extends the long-range surveillance capability of the platform, allowing military units to efficiently monitor and respond to fast-changing tactical scenarios.
“An aerial drone typically has a limited flight time, which can be significantly extended with the DroneBox. The system becomes even more durable and powerful when the DroneBox is integrated with our GEREON RCS UGV – extending both range and mobility. Our GEREON serves as a critical link between the drone and the recipient of the information, ensuring real-time data transmission.” said Marc Wietfeld, ARX Robotics CEO. “This partnership enables continuous, autonomous, multi-domain surveillance across larger areas, optimizing situational awareness and response times while delivering essential intelligence directly to those who need it most.”
“Integrating our KHRONOS DroneBox with ARX Robotics’ UGV is a step forward in our mission to enhance the effectiveness of drone-based surveillance operations.” commented Steve Allcock, Elistair’s Head of Sales and Partnerships in Europe. “Our collaboration underscores the importance of teaming autonomous systems to meet the evolving demands of modern defense applications and minimizing soldiers’ exposure to threats.”
