Partnership supports Drones as First Responder Program to enhance public safety
Sphere Drones has secured a major contract with the Western Australian Police Force (WAPOL). The contract will provide drone-in-a-box systems to support WAPOL’s Drones as First Responder (DFR) program, aiming to enhance the police force’s operational efficiency across various law enforcement tasks.
Advanced Drone Systems for Public Safety
The drones, along with compatible drone docking stations, will be used in a wide range of airborne law enforcement operations throughout Western Australia. The Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) systems are designed to help improve the police force’s effectiveness in tasks ranging from monitoring remote areas to emergency response.
Sphere Drones has worked closely with WAPOL before, with this being their second successful robotics tender with the police force. Paris Cockinos, CEO of Sphere Drones, stated: “The Western Australian Police Force is at the forefront of remote operations, and we are proud to support their efforts in creating a safer environment. This partnership highlights the trust and confidence WAPOL places in Sphere Drones and is a testament to the quality and reliability of our drone solutions. We are excited to collaborate with WAPOL and provide them with the tools they need to enhance public safety across Western Australia.”
Rising Drone Adoption in Australia
This contract with WAPOL comes at a time of growing adoption of drone technology across Australia. Industry estimates from Airservices Australia project that commercial drone flights could reach 60 million by 2043, potentially saving Australian businesses over $10 billion. Law enforcement and other industries are increasingly adopting these autonomous systems to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Sphere Drones has been investing in drone-in-a-box (DiaB) technology, including the HubX system, which is gaining traction in new markets. Their presence in Western Australia, established over five years ago, has been crucial in supporting this contract and continuing to meet the evolving needs of the public safety sector.
Enhancing Police Capabilities with Drones
The new systems provided to WAPOL will improve the police force’s ability to conduct remote operations more efficiently and safely. By integrating advanced drone technology into their toolkit, WAPOL aims to further enhance public safety, especially in hard-to-reach areas.
As Sphere Drones expands its offerings, this partnership strengthens its presence in the public safety sector. The company remains committed to developing innovative solutions that meet the needs of law enforcement agencies across Australia.
