UAV Satcom System Selected for BVLOS Drone Operations

SKYTRAC’s Integrated Mission System 350 (IMS-350) Satcom terminal for UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) has been selected by Nordic Unmanned for installation on a Staaker BG-200 drone. The IMS-350 will provide the drone with Command and Control (C2) capabilities for enhanced mapping, photogrammetry, LiDAR scanning and logistical operations.

The Staaker BG-200 will be able to operate BVLOS (beyond visual line of sight) from anywhere in the world, and take advantage of live video streaming and mission control updates. The IMS-350’s onboard server will also host custom video compression software that will optimize bandwidth utilization and reduce operating costs.

The IMS-350 will enable Iridium Certus broadband services on Nordic Unmanned UAV platforms, providing speeds ranging from 176 Kbps bi-directional to 352 Kbps uplink and 704 Kbps downlink, dependent on antenna configuration. The Staaker BG-200 UAV’s flexible operational profile allows it to operate in sub-arctic to semi-arid and tropical climate zones, and will enable Nordic Unmanned to service customers globally, making Iridium Certus the ideal satellite network service of choice.
