Job Description

This opening is for a Drone Solutions Engineer to contribute to system development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support. In this position, you will work alongside Planck team members to rapidly iterate on new features and capabilities, perform debugging and test functions, and help drive innovation at the company.

Responsibilities

 Support software and test engineers in guidance, navigation, and control development
 Perform testing in simulation, in the indoor flight cage, and at outdoor test ranges
 Design and execute experiments, collect and analyze data, and deliver results
 Calibrate and configure software and hardware systems for test and delivery to customers
 Support the integration of embedded systems onto unmanned aircraft for customers, which may involve domestic and international travel
 Generate system documentation, test reports, integration guides, and user manuals
 Develop embedded software, including flight control code, messaging interfaces, and networking

Preferred Competencies

Applicants with experience in some or all these competencies are encouraged to apply.

 Robotics, especially small UAS
 Team-focused communication skills
 Ability to describe complex ideas to a general audience
 Technical writing, following procedures, and capturing data
 Ability to thrive in a fast paced, collaborative, small team environment
 Strong attention to detail, including a safety-first mindset

Additional programming or embedded computing experience is also desirable, including C/C++, Python, computer vision, machine learning, and Linux.

Preferred Experience
 Experience with multirotor drones, robotics, or other unmanned systems, including both HW and SW
 Experience with ArduPilot (APM), PX4, MAVLink, QGroundControl, and/or other open-source software
 Experience with ROS, Gazebo, and related robotics technologies
 Embedded software debugging and test
 Drone piloting experience, including preference for Part 107 license Education
 BS degree preferred in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, but relevant experience is a suitable replacement.
 Lab work or special projects related to the field are a bonus
